Well today is the 14th of January and I have been in England now for 10 days. It seems much longer than that. To start I will tell about where I am staying. We are staying in the town of Harlaxton located about 10 minutes from a larger town, Grantham. We live in a manor that is very large and very old. Unfortunately, I was one of the people that got placed in the carriage house instead of the manor, but I have come to like the carriage house because I go outside everyday. Some of the people in the manor go a few days with out being outside and I am trying to enjoy every bit of the weather that does not include snow ! I have three other roommates and at first I wasn't sure how that was going to go, but we get along really well so it worked out great. First I have to mention that the morning I left I was listening to the radio and heard Jewel on K102. When we got to the airport, I was waiting in line to check-in and Jewel was standing right in front of me ! It seemed to be a great start to my trip. Anyways, the first few days we were here were extremely busy and we had meetings all the time. Once class started last Monday, things slowed down a bit, but the homework increased and we have a lot of reading everyday. We have started to plan trips which will be fun. I have met lots of new people here, and you know almost everyone since there are only 150 students. It's nice because all of your teachers get to know you as well, my Myth of the Greeks class only has 11 students! This past weekend we went to London, which was amazing!!! On Friday, a few of us went out and experienced the nightlife in London which was fun we also went to the National Gallery and saw some of Monet and van Gogh's work. On Saturday we went to Westminster Abbey and went inside there, that was beautiful. We even saw the grave of Queen Elizabeth the I and Charles Dickens. As we were about to leave the choir started singing and that was an experience, the way the sound carries in there was amazing. We also saw Big Ben and the Houses of Parliment along with the Tower of London. We did a little bit of shopping, but it was difficult because things are spread out a bit there. It seems to be a lot like New York where the people always seem to be in a hurry! As you can imagine, it has rained EVERY day that we have been here. Fortunatly, it doesn't rain for to long and at least it's not snowing!
When I first got here, I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't be able to do it, but being here and meeting all these new people has made it much easier. With some of the people here I already feel like we've been friends forever not just a week.
I hope to be able to write in this often, especially when i return from trips on the weekends! I'll keep you updated on all that I am doing! For now , cheers!
